An Oban taxi driver who accidentally knocked down two ladies and ran over a foot has been ned £200. Shona Brown, 61, of 7c Miller Road, Oban, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention on October 21 last year, when she failed to observe two 67-year-old pedestrians on Queen’s Park Place, Oban, striking and knocking them to the ground, and running over one of the ladies’ feet to her severe injury.
Procurator scal Eoin McGinty told Oban on Tuesday July 17 that, as Brown turned into the taxi stand, ‘she ran over the back of the feet of the witnesses, causing them to fall to the ground. ‘The complainer’s foot was trapped beneath the wheel of the car. [She] broke two bones in her foot. She was signed Defence agent Edward ornton said Brown had been a taxi driver for the past 15 years, and had an ‘excellent history’ of good character. ‘There was a large vehicle parked in the bus stance and that had obscured her view of the access area. ‘By the time she realised and took evasive action, it was too late. ‘She stopped immediately and her assistance.’ Sentencing, Patrick Hughes said: ‘ is has been a very unfortunate accident, which you have done what you can to put right.’ He ned Brown £200, and endorsed her licence with four points.
