The boil notice was issued on Wednesday July 18 aer routine sampling from the island’s service reservoir the water as not meeting the usual microbiological standard.
Scottish Water’s local team distributed notices to all customers on the island advising them of the restrictions and supplied bottled water for use while the notice remained in place.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said: ‘Extensive sampling of the island’s water supply has it is safe to drink and use. We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience while this notice has been in place and thank them for their understanding. ‘Notices will be delivered to all customers that the restrictions have been li- ed but we would ask islanders to help us by sharing this information with any neighbours or visitors who may not have seen this update.’
