Fears are growing the historic Kilmallie Parish Church at Corpach might be forced to close because of dwindling attendances. Kilmallie Parish trustees have now sent out a newsletter to parishioners urging them to start attending the church more regularly to help swell congregation numbers as a way of staving off any threat to its survival. This year’s General Assembly of the Church of Scotland saw delegates told there were ‘too many presbyteries, unevenly distributed with many already unsustainable’. In their newsletter, trustees say their local presbytery – Lochaber – is doing better than most with seven of its eight charges having ministers, with the eighth due to get a minister in the near future.
