Some of the trophy winners from this year’s show.
Glencoe and District Flower Show took place on Saturday August 25 at Glencoe Village Hall. The event was well attended by locals and visitors to the area and the lovely summer weather this year made for a great show of flowers and vegetables. Organisers were pleased with the turnout and were particularly impressed with the high standard of entries in all categories. Trophy winners: Catherine Wigston, Lyn Leven quaich, most points in craft section; John Roy, Clachaig Cup, most points in vegetable section, and Abhain Cup, most points overall in vegetables and floral sections; Linda Nadin, Mr and Mrs P Weir quaich, most points in baking section, best baking exhibit, cup for most points in preserves section, and Glencoe and Glen Etive Community Council cup for most points overall; Helen Fairlie, most points in photography section; John Poolman, cup for most points in painting and drawing section; Irene Kerr, Glencoe Hotel cup for most points in floral art, and Isobel MacDonald cup for best pot plant; Angela Elder, Freedom of the Glen Rosebowl for best rose, and Wendy McCubbin Memorial Shield for best photograph; Marianne Hornby, Dr Mackenzie Trophy for best exhibit in class 55; Jenny Johnstone, Cabin Garden Centre shield for most points in floral section.
