In July, Scottish Sea Farms, Scotland’s second largest salmon farmer, announced its purchase of the Marine Resource Centre, Barcaldine, by Loch Creran, where it plans to build a new land-based RAS freshwater facility, or re-circulating aquaculture system, for rearing smolts to transfer to sea farms, creating up to 25 permanent jobs.
