LOCHABER High School student Cameron Whyte is this year’s recipient of the Fraser MacPhee Ambassador for Sport Trophy.
The trophy is presented annually by Duncan and Rosemary MacPhee in memory of their son, Fraser, who died in 2002 while a pupil at Lochaber High School. The trophy pays tribute to Fraser’s sporting endeavours and is awarded to the most promising sportsperson in S4 at Lochaber High School.
Fifteen-year-old Cameron, from Spean Bridge, is a distinguished boxer, becoming the North of Scotland Champion and the Scottish Champion no less than five times. He is a former Great Britain champion and was the first ever Scottish schoolboy to become a European Silver medalist. Cameron flew back this week after representing Scotland at the European Junior Championships in Bulgaria. In addition to boxing, Cameron is also a keen shinty player, representing and scoring for the school recently in this year’s Wade Cup final.
