The approach of winter
& My lizard has really slowed down over the past few weeks, only grabbing the odd insect and hardly moving around its vivarium. Do you have any suggestions?
At this time of year, it is quite common for bearded dragons especially to slow down, and enter what is known as a period of brumation. Some species seem to be able to sense the drop in the barometric pressure and as survival of the fittest dictates that if a harsh season is approaching, and you have the ability to detect it in advance, the best thing to do is to hunker down and protect yourself by expending as little energy as possible. It is highly likely that the sheer numbers of animals currently going into brumation is an indication that we are likely to have a very bad winter.
