MY PROG
The great and good of progressive music give us a glimpse into their prog worlds. As told to Grant Moon
ANDY TILLISON
Where’s home?
Yorkshire –a wilderness life in rather harsh weather conditions, stacks of natural beauty. Love it.
Earliest memory of prog?
The kids from my dad’s church would meet on Sunday evenings at our vicarage and play their records. I wasn’t allowed in because they were older, but I’d listen at the door, through which I heard Yes for the first time.
First prog album you bought?
Close
To
The
Edge. I was 12, I’ve owned it for nearly 50 years. Still regularly played, and loved.
And the last?
The Flower Kings’ Island. Roine [Stolt] still knocks it out of the park for me. The man has produced twice as many great albums as Yes and Genesis put together, and all since either madea truly great one.
