BIG BIG HIT
Last night, I finally got to see Big Big Train live. I discovered them a little late and came in just in time for Common Ground, but they were well worth the wait. It was hands down one of the most enjoyable gigs I’ve ever been to and the venue – the Waterside Theatre in nearby Aylesbury – such a convenient location.
I had originally bought tickets nearly two years ago and, when David Longdon’s death was announced, thought I would never get to see them live. Although their new singer Alberto Bravin is very different from David, he was excellent and absolutely nailed the set. I was holding back the tears during Telling The Bees and the band didn’t miss a single note between them. I don’t think I’ve ever clapped so hard in my life. As a special bonus, I even spotted Marillion’s Pete Trewavas in the audience! Roll on the next tour – I’ll be there!
Phil Whittaker, Princes Risborough Thanks for your letter, Phil. Now turn to p104 for our review of the show – Dep Ed.
WHERE IN THE WORLD?
As a longtime subscriber to the mag, I remember and enjoyed the regular feature that included a list of bands from a selected country. I would love to see a return of this, and especially an article on prog rock bands from New Zealand.
