FUSION 4
VENUE 45 LIVE, KIDDERMINSTER/THE CIVIC, STOURPORT
DATE 02/03/2023-05/03/2023
Emerald Dawn: hypnotic and captivating.
Ghost Of The Machine bring some drama.
“
Music without boundaries” is a fitting mantra for Fusion, a festival that’s rapidly expanded both musically and in reputation over four years. Now spanning four days and two venues, organisers Steve and Lou Gould have this year curated 20 eclectically diverse acts, although sadly only one’s from overseas.
Launch night in Kidderminster sees energised, contrasting sets from Last Flight To Pluto, Ghost Of The Machine and Kyros. Ghost are the pick of the three, recreating most of their debut album, Scissorgames, with dramatic panache.
Onward to Stourport for Friday and beyond, where Cornwall’s prog folk bard Davey Dodds enchants with mandolin and vivid tales. The Wood Demons evoke a Canterbury vibe, Naomi Belshaw’s fluid bow strokes coming to the fore, especially on the jazzy Gentlemen, It’s Time.
