Anight with Russian Circles is a postrock show for those who are normally bored by post-rock. Of course, the power trio have become a paragon of the subgenre since they debuted in 2006: they use both the progressive ambience and dramatic crescendos that define it, while also pushing its inventiveness forward with looper pedals and instrument switches. But live, they become much more essential with a light show that makes even their quietest moments exhilarating.
