A lthough best known as singer for UK proggers Kaprekar’s Constant, Dorie Jackson is also a solo artist. Her new album, Stupid Says Run, the follow-up to The Courting Ground, is filled with close harmonies and careful orchestral arrangements. Across 12 tracks, it demonstrates the confidence and maturity she’s developed over the course of her career. Blending folk, rock and prog influences with inspiration from folklore, myth and everyday life, the album is a brilliant accumulation of sound and storytelling that’s been created with support from Kaprekar’s members Mike Westergaard, Mark Walker, Nick Jefferson and Al Nicholson. Jackson’s father, former Van der Graaf Generator saxophonist David Jackson, also features on the album and multi-instrumentalist Toby Shaer makes a guest appearance.
