SUNS OF THE TUNDRA
Suns Of The Tundra
London prog-metal mavericks give their debut an anniversary glow-up.
SHINY MACK
Rising from the ashes of Peach – formerly home to bassist Justin Chancellor before he departed to join Tool in 1995 – and rooted in an enlightened strain of heaviness that blurred boundaries between alternative rock and psychedelic metal, Suns Of The Tundra have been an intermittent but always dazzling presence in the UK scene for the last two decades. Originally released in 2004, their selftitled debut album deserved a lot more attention than it received. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the band have given it a respectful but rewarding remix; upgrading its multilayered delights for contemporary ears, and casually reaffirming its timeless charms in the process.
