LETTER
Thanks to Polly Glass for her excellent review of the recent Big Big Train gig at Cadogan Hall, London [Prog 155]. I saw the band twice on their recent tour and they were nothing short of majestic. Outstanding musicians who continue to deliver songs that typify intelligent, factor on the night is normally nothing melodic rock. But, what surprised me is short of wonderful and it helps the bands that the gigs I went to were not sold out. make more music. Maybe there are ways Very well-attended, yes, but if Big Big to improve the economics for everyone? Train, the doyens of modern prog can’t sell Discounted early-bird ticket pricing, out, say, Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre, then livestreaming of a selected show for those I think the economics of many prog genre who can’t travel? It would be interesting bands must be challenging. So, I really want for Prog to run an article on how bands to encourage fans of the music we love to keep financially afloat and brainstorm go out and see their favourite bands when ways that work for everyone to ensure we they tour. I appreciate it costs money, time don’t lose the music we love.
