“Dear President Macron, Inspired by your leadership, France is rediscovering its self-confidence. We wish you well. Your British admirers understand that Brexit for you is a secondary problem, though in your Revolution, you refer to Brexit as Europe’s crisis and a symptom of its fatigue. From that I understand that the future of Europe is at the forefront of your concerns, even if the UK implications are not.
I appeal to your sense of history and strategy. Our countries have a common history that has helped to shape Europe for more than a thousand years. In the last century, together we protected the values of European civilisation through the darkest days.
