WORLD RECORD IGNORED
RUTH JEBET EASES BACK WITH WORLD RECORD IN SIGHT
3000M ‘CHASE

Ruth Jebet: just missed out on the world record
Whether it was ignorance or a conscious decision to increase her financial opportunities at a later date by easing up is unclear. While there are world record bonuses at the IAAF World Championships, none such are on offer in the Olympics.
That she came close at all though is remarkable enough as, after a false start, the race started at a jog before Jebet took off.
