When I look through the catch reports and articles it’s amazing to see how many beautiful big carp there are around the country. Back in the early 80s we often had to travel hundred’s of miles in search of a 40lb+ carp - and that was even if you could get a ticket for the water!! Now, just about every pond around the country has a 40 in it. Even that illusive 50lb barrier isn’t an unrealistic target these days. The sport has never been in such a great place. It was great to see the Waterside Common take the British record. That fish has been in line for some time now and anyone can fish for it on a day ticket!!
