WHEN you talk to promoters you don’t always get honest answers. Understandable agendas blur the lines between fact and fiction. We’re only told what they want us to hear. But with Kalle Sauerland, the German- based promoter who grew up in London, one detects plenty of truthfulness. Perhaps that’s why several high-profile British fighters, like George Groves, Dereck Chisora and David Price, have joined up with Team Sauerland in recent years. In London, shortly before Christmas, Boxing News caught up with Kalle at the press conference to promote Groves’ January 30 scrap with Andrea Di Luisa, to get the inside track on the developments of those faltering Brits, and the secrets behind the success of one of Sauerland’s leading lights – and recent bogeyman to Paul Smith and Martin Murray – WBO super-middleweight boss, Arthur Abraham.
