Classic Van & Pick-up Magazine SIXTIES SPECIAL Edição anterior

I AM never quite sure why the sixties are
often referred to as swinging. Maybe it’s
because lots of the people around looked
like monkeys (perhaps, then, those in the
roaring twenties were like lions). Oh boy,
why do I try to be clever when I am, quite
patently, not? Anyhow, it doesn’t matter
whether the sixties swung, hung or just plain
dangled, they gave us a lot of important stuff.
The fashions, cars, bikes and music were
memorable (mostly – there was some garbage
around, too). Oh yes, and the vans. I haven’t
forgotten what I do for a living.
All in all, a quite remarkable decade and I am
genuinely glad that I grew up in it (age-wise, my height
didn’t change much from the age of 10). I’ve got quite
a few fond memories of those times and that’s the
reason I figured a sixties special issue of CVP would
be a bit of a gas. Therefore, throughout the magazine,
you’ll find sprinklings of nostalgia from that era to try
to recapture some of the flavour of those times. It is
actually quite a sobering thought that the sixties began
more than half-a-century ago.
I have
included a
couple of
photographs
of me taken
during
that decade, partly for a laugh and partly to
prove that I was young once. People have seen old
pictures of yours truly and often asked whether I am
embarrassed about them. Not at all – it’s the current
ones that cause me to squirm.
Anyway, that’s enough about that – on the basis that
you will actually read the magazine, there is not much
point in going on about the contents. Next month will
be a seventies special and the following month will
focus on the eighties. If you’ve got any old photos,
stories or whatever relating to those decades then do
please get in touch. I’m not even bothered if they are
not vehicle-related provided they reflect the times.
That would be rather spiffing.
So, until the next time, peace man, and all that
tripe,
