When the Nikon Z f was first announced, I was in awe of its retro beauty but my second thought was: wouldn’t it have been better to reskin a Z 5 and charge nearly half the price? Sure, its impressive spec knocks the Z 6II’s body cap off and it’s got tech that’s not even present on the Z 9, but who’s going to spend £2299/$1999 on a retro camera? Well, it’s a good job I don’t come up with the ideas at Nikon HQ, because the Z f has caused quite the stir. I not only underestimated how much people love retro-styled cameras, but I completely ignored the bleeding obvious: Fujifilm, OM System (formerly Olympus), Leica and Hasselblad.
