Bathurst pool keeps a fairly low profile, but those who know it love it with an almost zealous passion. The 33m long pool was presented to this Forest of Dean town, in 1920, by Charles Lord Bledisloe KBE on the occasion of the coming of age of his eldest son. A community pool then, a community pool now. That is evidenced in the commitment of those volunteers who run it and those others who support it in all sorts of ways.
I imagine Lord Bledisloe would notice much changed about the pool since he gifted it all those years ago. It is an absolute riot of colour from top to toe. The outdoor cubicle doors have been brightly painted in colours that complement the beautiful sunshades. Every square centimetre of what would otherwise be very unprepossessing breeze block exterior wall is covered with cheerful, hand-painted murals.
