In May 2024 USS Ronald Reagan (CVN76) left Yokosuka, Japan after a nine-year deployment to return home to the United States.
The nuclear-powered Nimitz class aircraft carrier was the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, forward deployed in the US Navy 7th Fleet’s area of operations. During this deployment, Ronald Reagan participated in multiple exercises and supported US defence ties with Japan, as well as the US 7th Fleet’s goal of maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
