Sporting Gun  |  Oct / 314
The October 2025 issue of Sporting Gun brings a refreshing change to this fantastic publication in the introduction of a guest editor. Each issue will now be led by a stalwart personality from within the various nuances of country sports to offer insightful interviews, tips and entertaining reads alongside our regulars to enjoy from your favourite armchair.
Taking the helm as the inaugural Guest Editor is none other than Olympic gold medallist, countryman, farmer and coach of India’s Olympic Clay Shooting Team, Peter Wilson MBE. He writes: “When I was introduced to shooting as a 10-year-old, I could never have imagined that I’d one day be writing these words for a publication that has been the heartbeat of our shooting community for nearly half a century.
From those early days of walked-up rabbit shooting with Dad to standing on the Olympic podium, I’ve witnessed first hand how interconnected game and clay shooting truly are. I hope this issue inspires you to see clay shooting not as separate from game shooting, but as its essential foundation...”
Alongside Peter’s insightful content, Geoff Garrod reassures pigeon shooters of the effectiveness of steel shot, while Rob Speed tests the Perazzi MX2000S. Simon K Barr transports readers to Argentina for a wildfowling adventure, and Don Brunt reports from the 47th World FITASC Sporting Championships.
The gundog section is packed with expert advice from Ryan Kay and Howard Kirby, while stalker Jon Snowdon explores how to maximise opportunities during the roe rut. Technical features include Bruce Potts’s test of the Mauser M18 Fenris and we round-up of the best hearing protection for all shots.
