Sign of the times: Changing Family Opinions

I first started realising I was transgender on the 15th of November 2017 and went public on the 31st of January 2018. Before this, I’d privately told my parents, and my fiancé knew from the start.

As someone with a big family, I didn’t want to go through the effort of telling each person individually, so one day during lunch at college I put a post on Facebook with a picture saying “Keep Calm I’m Trans” with a huge paragraph explaining that I had been ‘testing the waters’ for a few months behind closed doors, and the feeling I got was indescribable. I also put that I’d made a doctor’s appointment to get a referral to the GIC.

Fabulous at 63 in Diego Garcia
Hi, my name is Jaime Anne Stykemain, I am a Transgender woman of 63, soon to be 64. I have been married for over 40 years to the same woman and had come out to her about 3 years ago. She has come a long way in her ‘transition’ with me. She still has a hard time seeing me in a dress, and asked that she not see me in one.

St Trinian’s at Eastbourne
I was going to call this photoshoot “St Trannyan’s” but remembered a previous issue of TLI magazine (issue 26) once had a St Trannyan’s feature and even a cover too. I had a look and it was way back in 2008, and at that time, most trans girls didn’t mind being called “Tranny’s” - so the cover was fine and just a bit of fun. However in 2019 this is not the case, and most girls now find the term offensive, so we’re not “St Trannyan’s” We’re dressed as St Trinian’s Schoolgirls of course, and yes we’re all over 18 and old enough to know better - but in the spirit of St Trinian’s, we don’t care, and do what we want to do… So don’t get in our way or try and stop us.

Sophie Parish Trans Radio UK Sparkle 2019 and being the Trans Trucker
Sophie Parish may be one of hundreds of T-Girls up and down the country. But she has certainly turned a few heads in her time. Having only been dressing in public since 2014, in the space of just five years has grown into a confident, stunning young female. We caught up with Sophie Parish, as she went through this new chapter of her life, and this is what she had to say on the subject.
TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBERANCE (T.D.O.R.)
For many around the world, November 20th each year is just another day in the build-up to the annual shopping bonanza known as ‘Black Friday’. But for the worldwide transgender community, it is the day some of us honour those lives that have been brutally taken away by suicide or murder.
