The International Welsh Poetry Competition is inviting entries. Now in its twelfth year, the independent competition’s judge for 2018 is Sally Spedding. The first prize is £500, the second £250 and the third, £100. Seventeen further commended poets will be published online and in an anthology.
The competition is for poems up to fifty lines, in any style and on any subject. All entries must be original and unpublished. Type entries on single sides of A4. Your name must not appear on the manuscript. Attach the poems to a completed entry form, which may be downloaded from the website.
Enter by post or by email. The entry fee is £5 per poem for postal entries and £6 per poem for online entries. Pay by cheques made out to The Welsh Poetry Competition or by PayPal. The closing date is 27 May.
