This compilation’s name isn’t quite a misnomer, but with Darkstalkers, Night Warriors, Vampire Savior, Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2 all included, this feels very much like a Darkstalkers package with some bonus games.
That’s not a bad thing as Morrigan, Donovan and company can still offer as much fun as any other cast of fighters, to the point that we wonder why Capcom doesn’t bring these spooky scrappers back.
The other games in the package are an eclectic bunch. Red Earth is on consoles for the first time ever, and it’s a nice twist on the genre in which you fight against gigantic monsters rather than regular enemies. It looks great but isn’t one of Capcom’s more celebrated games. Pocket Fighter is goofy fun, Cyberbots is an excellent mech brawler and Hyper Street Fighter II needs no real introduction. Finally, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is also included and adds a nice bit of variety.
