WORDS BY JAMES KONIK
» [Amstrad CPC] Hiro makes a dramatic entrance, dropping in from above.
» [Amstrad CPC] Switchblade’s subdued palette works really well, with the orange leaping out against the not-quite monochrome levels.
THIS MONTH IN JULY 1991
The Amstrad CPC brand was struggling in 1991. Attempts to refresh it with the Plus models had failed. Amstrad had also made a brave stab at entering the console market with the GX4000, but it was not to be and the curtains were closing. Great games kept coming though, and the Amstrad was still getting unique versions of top titles, with covertapes presenting them to eager readers. This month’s Amstrad Action tape includes a demo of the fantastic Switchblade, along with the complete Future Knight, as well as an excellent reader game and a demo of a cloned arcade classic.
