Seeing Microsoft’s second console on the cover of our magazine will undoubtedly make some of you feel old. It certainly makes me feel old and it’s mainly because I can link my first proper interactions with the machine to starting on Retro Gamer.
I was one of the few Imagine Publishing staff to buy the system on launch day, mainly because the 360 team were expecting to get consoles from Microsoft, so when that didn’t happen, loads of promo games simply began appearing on my desk. By the end of the week I had access to the entire launch library.
The Xbox 360 is genuinely one of my favourite consoles and it has been a delight to revisit its launch and impact on the industry with veterans who worked on the system. Like Nick, I’ve also dug my console out and have been playing the likes of After Burner: Climax and the original Red Dead Redemption again.
