REVERSE INTAGLIO CARVING

For this project, I used reverse intaglio (in’talyō) carving. If you don’t know what intaglio carving is, it’s worth a Google search. Intaglio carving involves utilizing various carving bits to carve an image into a piece. It’s usually done on a piece of metal or a gemstone. The image stays below the surface. If you touched the surface, you would be able to feel the depressions made by the design. This type of engraving traces back to Ancient Greece in the 6th century B.C.
