2022 Boat Races
Honours even as race returns to Tideway

A sthe 167th Men's Boat Race crews floated over the line with Oxford in front, Dark Blue supporters heaved a massive sigh of relief and went off to party. A win apiece for the Blue Boat and Isis for the first time in a while. After a period during which Cambridge's more photogenically-kitted athletes have dominated the headlines and taken all 12 of the last three years' openweight victories, the tide had turned fractionally in Oxford's favour. It was a new end to a day which had started by looking like more of the same. The Oxford wins may be no more than a temporary rise in form, or could signal the start of a longer run, but it was change, and in a year in which all four squads were bolstered by some superb rowing talent having fun after Tokyo.
