New men's world record
British rower Tom George, who won silver in the M8+ in Tokyo and recently competed for Cambridge in the Boat Race, has broken the men's heavyweight open world record for 5k on the Concept2 indoor rower, with a blistering time of 14:53.9 – that’s a jaw-dropping 1:29.3 average per 500. George completed the feat in February this year but waited until after the Boat Race to post the news on social media. According to his Instagram account, George weighed in at 94.4kg 30 minutes before the test.
