The China International Women’s Rowing Elite Competition, more commonly known as the Rose Regatta, was founded in 2023 by Shanghai’s M-Team Sports Technology Company. The second edition of the regatta was held on September 7, 2024, at the Jinhui port in the Fengxian District of Shanghai City. It welcomed over 40 teams and 219 athletes from around the world including China, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the UK.

Rowing Ireland have chosen not to renew the contract of their high performance director Antonio Maurogiovanni. The two-time Italian Olympian joined Rowing Ireland in 2017 and successfully led the team to Tokyo and Paris, winning four Olympic medals and a series of world and European titles. Maurogiovanni’s methods were thought by some to be old school. There was no official statement released by Rowing Ireland, who broke the news to their staff and elite rowers by email. “That was no way to honour a man who has put his life and soul into making sure that his crews perform at the best [standard],” Irish Olympian Ross Corrigan told journalist Liam Gorman. Dominic Casey, Ireland’s lightweight coach, has taken over as the interim high performance director.
