Captain’s Log
“If the apocalypse comes, beep me.”

This is always the Hellmouth of the year for us at SFX Towers. By the time you read this, likely most – if not all – of the festivities will be over. Meanwhile for us, the arrival of the advent calendar means that we’ve pretty much got two issues to get in the bag before everything grinds to a halt on 23 December. Yes, I know I say it every year but it’s wibbly wobbly timey-wimey, aka a massive pain in the arse. I don’t feel particularly festive these days – I’ll spare you my Phoebe Cates Gremlins moment – so I’ll be glad to get a fresh start of sorts in 2023. What a year it could be! Doctor Who turns 60. Six decades. That’s incredible. We’re going to try our best to celebrate our beloved series every single month this year. And Star Trek: The Next Generation is back in what looks like an incredible 10-hour film, for season three of Picard. What a time to be alive! Yes, I know we promised you that feature this issue, but deadlines are the deadliest enemy of all sci-fi! Next month, I promise! Meanwhile, there’s a new supernatural show starring certified genre TV LEGEND Sarah Michelle Gellar. Who’d have thought it? Nothing’s ever truly gone if you’re a fan. As you can see in the photo up top, I got to rest my weary bones on the Nemeton in the Beacon Hills Preserve while in New York for Comic Con. But there’s no rest for the wicked – you’ve got a new issue to read and we’ve got another one to finish! Happy new year, I hope that it’s a great one for us all.
