Are you a fan of Stephen King’s work?
I am a fan. I’m more of a fantasy, thriller, sci-fi, mystery reader. He writes a lot of premise-heavy stuff that I love. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the films I’ve watched the most in my life. Anything with a mystery/thriller bent, that is absolutely my cup of tea.
Did they come to you for the role?
I had a new team of agents and they suggested I read the book. I was thinking, “That’s very proactive!” But I was really grateful, because when I got there I had all these thoughts about it. We just got into a really dynamic chat about the show and the characters. We were getting excited, throwing ideas around, and that chat really informed what we did with the season.
