Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet upgrade programme, which will see over 150 ships upgraded over the next five years, was launched with the lifting of a new propeller on to a ship in Hamburg in August. Optimised to save between ten and 13 per cent in CO2 emissions, the propeller was manufactured by Germanbased MMG, and will be fitted to the 2007-built, 8,750TEU capacity Osaka Express while the ship is docked at Dubai in September.
