Takeone look at the awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife photographed by renowned crocheter Martin Up North and it’s easy to see why his Swedish home so strongly influences his creative life. The prolific designer echoes its tones and shapes in the projects he creates, whether they’re for his popular blog and Instagram or for collaborations with big-name yarn brands like Scheepjes.
Though he now lives with his family in the woodlands of northern Sweden, Martin used to be a self-confessed ‘big city boy’, born and raised in Vienna, Austria. In contrast, the small Swedish town of Brunflo where he now lives has brought him right into the woods, with wildlife such as moose, deer, foxes and owls as his neighbours and natural phenomena like the northern lights appearing on a regular basis.
