Wecan create dimension on the flat plane of stitching in many ways. Subtle changes of colour in shading work, creating a drop shadow in needlepoint or stitching at angles on embroidered work. In Bargello both the pattern and the colours used can create dimension. Here I used the box-like illusion of this stitch to create what at times looks like upright stacked boxes, and at others horizontal tubes.
