ULTIMATE EARS EPICBOOM
A sonic boom is what happens when an object travels faster than the speed of sound, but an Epicboom is what happens when Ultimate Ears wants to give the Sonos Move 2 (reviewed on p59) a run for its money. About the size of a two-slice toaster, though with a much happier result when you drop it in the bath, the IP67-rated Epicboom isn’t just waterproof – it floats, with giant rubber buttons on the front so you can still control the volume when it’s all wet. There’s a 4.7in woofer and two high-frequency drivers inside its rugged recycled plastic shell, and with 17hrs of battery life it’ll keep playing tunes long after you’ve turned into a prune.
