SAMSUNG GAL AXY Z FLIP6
Pump up the clam
Do some shrewd improvements to Samsung’s ever-popular clamshell mean it’s now a better option than the boringly un-folding Galaxy S24?

I’ve long thought Samsung’s flip phones were the best of the breed, but all came with caveats compared to their non-folding counterparts. This one narrows the gap so much you’ll need a microscope to measure it.
There’s flagship Qualcomm silicon inside the Galaxy Z Flip6 no matter where you live in the world, so it has a clear power advantage over European S24s and their Exynos processors. A considerably beefier battery brings it level for capacity, and both phones now have the same optically stabilised 50MP main camera.
The design team hasn’t been asleep at the wheel either. Small tweaks were the order of the day here, with the overall shape and asymmetrical cover screen carried over from last year’s model. The frame has gained flatter edges and a matt finish that shrugs off fingerprints far better than the Flip5’s polished one, while some colour-matched trim around the outer camera lenses is the biggest giveaway that you’re looking at the new phone, not the old one.
