Is it viva ViewSonic, or will BenQ’s brother from another mother win this face-off between two strikingly similar 4K projectors?

VERSUS 4K PROJECTORS
BenQ TK800
What’s the story?
Nothing can top the delirious stranger embraces, the half-time pies and the, er, colourful language you experience when attending a football match; but tech is doing its very best to replicate the feeling of being there. With VR still in its infancy, the first port of call for armchair supporters is surely a home theatre setup… which brings us to the reasonably-priced BenQ TK800.
Is it any good?
It has Football and Sports viewing modes, but of course it’s not all about the footy. While the TK800 isn’t giving you a native 4K image – like many 4K-touting projectors it uses a technique called pixel shift to achieve the 8.3 million pixels needed to qualify – movies still look impressively sharp from the right source, and there’s auto keystone correction to prevent wonkiness. Everything about this projector is welcoming, from the simple controls to that friendly blue front panel. Connectivity is basic, but sufficient, although the addition of an optical input would have been welcome. If you’re looking to go above Full HD without breaking the bank, this is a solid option.
