Sounding like a mix between an Italian opera and a Colombian drug lord, La Pavoni’s Esperto is possibly the most ostentatious java machine we’ve ever clapped eyes on. Pulling an oversize handle while a bird of prey in mid-flight watches on is exactly how we want to be seen making a cappuccino - no wonder La Pavoni’s machines have appeared in Bond movies and The Talented Mr Ripley. The 950W Esperto can whip up 16 cups with one water tank filled to capacity, and includes features such as a manometer for calculating boiler pressure (as opposed to judging how macho you look while using it).
