Has anybody got a light? This dungeon is darker than expected. Cool Mini Or Not (CMON) announced Massive Darkness 2 last month to great excitement amongst the rolling-dice-andhitting-things community. And for good reason – it’s been a few years since the reflavoured Zombicide-system game landed. The design team has changed, and so it’s time for new set of adventurers to take the reins. Alexandru Olteanu (Hate, God of War) and Marco Aurélio (a developer who has his hand in Rising Sun, Cthulhu: Death May Die, and the upcoming Ankh: Gods of Eygpt) are the heroes tasked with bringing new light to Massive Darkness’s depths.
Both had worked on the first Massive Darkness as developers – a role that usually focuses on balancing, testing and tweaking, rather than generative and creative output. Despite the usual constrictions of the role, they made some much-loved changes to the original game. They were partially responsible for the introduction of skill trees and shadow mode improvements. This makes them a natural fit to take the lead for the sequel.
