Lay siege to Mount Olympus
ICHOR
Designer: Reiner Knizia | Publisher: Bitewing Games
Released in parallel with Reiner Knizia’s Iliad, this abstract two-player design is the less subtle sibling. While Iliad is a wholly original design, Ichor is a reworking of the 2009 Battle for Olympus, which in turn riffed on the 1993 release Tiku. It’s a volatile game where one player takes command of a legion of monsters assaulting Mount Olympus, and the other wields the bastion of gods set to defend it.
Ichor’s ruleset is quite simple. On your turn you activate one of your figures. In doing so, you move them in a straight line either horizontally or vertically along the square grid. You may move as far as you’d like, but you must stop when you run into another figure or the edge of the board. Now, you drop one of your side’s tokens on each space you move out of, leaving a trail of breadcrumbs
