In this issue you can travel to Malta, Italy, China, America, Turkey, England and Portugal. Explore the stunning prehistoric temples of Malta and Gozo or discover 10 secret destinations in Florence, not on the main tourist trail. We visit the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, on the edge of the Gobi desert in China to follow in the footsteps of archaeological explorer, Aurel Stein and visit the ancient city of Sanliurfa in Turkey and the Carrara Quarries in Italy which people have been visiting for 2000 years.

Want to know where the phrase ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ came from? - visit the Hudson Vally in the USA to find out or visit Stratford upon Avon in 1769 to found out all about Garrick’s jubilee. Our interview is with Paul Viney, auctioneer and our Intrepid Traveller is the medieval traveller, Ibn Battuta, who covered 75,000 miles, 40 countries and 3 continents in 30 years. Museum Focus features the fabulous (‘mini-Lourve’) Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon and there are the usual book reviews, arts and archaeological news and exhibitions round-ups. So much to read, it will keep you going for at least three months!

Amazing cultural magazine

Simply a fantastic magazine. Finally a magazine about archeology, travel and art that is intelligent, interesting and cultural. This is a truly enjoyable read and I always end up learning about inspirational trips and people. I can't recommend it enough. Reviewed 02 June 2016
