Few surprises when it comes to Volvo’s mid-size crossover, though no diesel options mean you’ve now the choice of one mild or two plug-in hybrid petrols only. Here we were testing the less powerful of the PHEVs (345bhp plays 449bhp) – no doubt in our mind that electric drive suits the car’s calm and relaxed nature, and you really don’t need the extra power. If you can afford the £7.5k it takes to graduate over the mild hybrid, this might just be peak XC60.
