“IT’S
Friday night!” yells Ryley Walker, probably the first time anyone has ever done this in Dalston’s sacred temple of skronk, Cafe Oto. “Time to snort your ketamine and take your pills.”
He goes on to reveal that the reason he’s taking the stage at the unusually early time of 7.30pm is to avoid a clash with a Ride gig across town. “Only in London could the economy bend around shoegaze,” he observes drily. “I’m a Swervedriver man myself.”
