How did you discover country music?
When I was 15 my dad passed and I was introduced to this music at a hard time, and it stuck. It was people like Townes, John Prine, Lucinda Williams… the ones who translated the old tradition into a new way. In San Francisco, there was an alt.countryscene with Dieselhead and Richard Buckner, and they sneaked me into shows.
