HI Wayne. Heady Daze is the second instalment of your biography, following 2019’s Salad Daze. Was it initially intended as one book? Absolutely, but once I started I couldn’t stop. They’ve turned into my answer to Winston Churchill’s diaries, and I’ve only got to 1990 so far. Will there be a third one? I’m not sure yet. I might just leave everyone on a cliffhanger…
One substance that crops up a lot in the book is Blue Nun – the semisweet, budget-friendly German white wine. Is that still your main creative lubricant? No, I generally drink red these days. Or a little bit of brandy now and then. But it wouldn’t be a Mission show if you didn’t see me tottering on with a bottle of Blue Nun in hand. Have you tasted it? It’s horrible! But you could drink it by the vatful and still function. We’d set our watches by it – we’d start on it an hour before the show and it’d get you into the right mood.
