THE MANAGING director of Wizz Air UK fears that not all carriers will be able to cope with the surge in demand for post-pandemic travel. In an exclusive interview with our digital platform Key.Aero, Marion Geoffroy provided a stark assessment of some parts of the commercial aviation industry and raised concerns about rival operators who have spent the past two years “in sleep mode.”
Geoffroy said: “It will be a test for certain airlines to see if they're ready. We’ve been flying almost constantly during the crisis, apart from four weeks at the beginning of 2020. [Some other operators] have not been that agile, and we believe that this summer – which we think is going to be strong – there is going to be an appetite for travel but the system needs to be there, with the basics in place, and if you've not tested the basics before [during the pandemic] then it is hard.”
