Question of the Fortnight
Does Windows 10 put you on the ‘wrong’ side of risk?
Microsoft’s latest “insane” advert for upgrading has angered many users
Microsoft’s new YouTube advert (www.snipca.com/55122) promoting Windows 11 starts simply enough, with the onscreen message: ‘Security updates for Windows 10 are ending 14 October, 2025’. No arguing with that – it’s a matter of fact. Microsoft would be negligent not to keep hammering it home.
But then the hard sell begins. The next message is ‘Upgrade now to a Windows 11 Pro PC’, which seems to forget that the cheaper Windows 11 Home exists (though we haven’t – see our discounted offers: www.snipca.com/55126). This is a surprisingly elitist choice if Microsoft is serious about convincing the 650 million people still using Windows 10 to upgrade.
